Create and organize items

Build a clean item catalog with units, SKUs, categories, and custom fields.

Choose an item identity

Use one item for each thing you need to distinguish in purchasing, storage, or reporting. Give it a stable SKU and a plain-language name. Do not encode a location or current supplier into the name because both can change.

Select the base unit

Choose the unit in which stock is controlled, such as pieces, metres, or kilograms. Add valid conversions when purchasing or issuing in another unit. Avoid creating a second item merely to represent a pack size.

Add structure

Assign a category and use custom fields for attributes that workers search or report on. Add a barcode supplied by the manufacturer or generate a label in Itemra. Attach supporting documents where they improve identification.

Check the result

Search by name, SKU, barcode, and a useful custom value. Confirm that the detail page clearly identifies the item before adding opening stock.
