Organize sites and locations

Model rooms, shelves, bins, containers, and vehicles so stock is easy to find.

Start with the physical world

A site represents a building or operational base. Locations represent stable places inside it. Containers can represent movable boxes or pallets, while vehicles are useful when stock travels with a field team.

Use a naming convention

Names should work on a small screen and a printed label. A pattern such as Room-A / Rack-03 / Bin-02 sorts predictably and tells a worker where to walk. Keep codes unique within the context workers search.

Label the route

Place scannable labels at decision points: room, rack, shelf, then bin. Scan the destination during moves instead of relying on memory. Archive unused locations only after their stock is zero.

Validate the structure

Ask a person who did not design the layout to find three items from Itemra. Rename ambiguous locations before importing the full catalog.
