Plan projects with BOMs

Define a project, approve a versioned bill of materials, and follow planned and actual usage.

Create the project

Give the project a recognizable code and name, then add the dates, owner, status, and notes your team needs. Keep operational discussion on the project so decisions remain beside its activity.

Define and approve the BOM

Create a BOM with a target item, version, and component lines. Check quantities and units before approval. Approval creates an immutable revision; later changes belong in a new draft that is reviewed and approved as another revision.

Link the right revision

Link an approved BOM to the project. The link records the selected revision so later BOM work does not silently rewrite the project's plan. Review component availability before reserving or starting work.

Follow execution

Use the project activity and consumption views to compare planned material with reservations and actual stock activity. Investigate substitutions, shortages, or unplanned use while the related movement and discussion context is still available.
