Vans and service vehicles as mobile stock locations: creating, assigning drivers, and running van stock.

Vehicles are locations that drive away

A vehicle is a stock location on wheels: a service van, a truck, a site car. Stock in a vehicle counts, moves, and reports exactly like stock on a shelf — the shelf just travels with your field team. (Vehicles are a plan capability, aimed at field-service and automotive operations.)

Create and assign

New vehicle takes a name, a code (this becomes the label), the license plate, a home site, and a capacity with its unit (slots, liters, kg, items). Assign a driver so "my vehicle" resolves for that person — the mobile flows and dashboard widget use it to default the right vehicle.

Van stock in practice

• Stock in — replenish the van by moving or transferring stock into it like any location; a dedicated van-replenishment location and reorder rules keep it topped up.
• Consume from the van — field work issues stock from the vehicle, so usage is attributed to the job and the van's remaining stock stays true.
• Tools on board — the Tools tab lists serialized tools & assets checked out to the vehicle.
• Count the van — vehicles are countable like any location; a periodic van count keeps shrinkage visible.

The occupancy figure on the list warns before a van is overfilled, and the vehicle's movement history answers "what left this van this week" the same way any location's history does.
