Reserve stock for demand, build pick lists, execute guided picks with shorts and substitutions, and issue or consume the result.

Reservations

A reservation earmarks quantity for a target — a project, job, order, person, team, customer, vehicle, or task — before anyone walks to the shelf. Reserved stock stays on hand but leaves available, so promises show up in the numbers immediately. Reservations can be scoped to a site, location, or container, carry an expiry, and are released or extended explicitly; stale and expiring reservations can raise alerts.

Create a pick list

A pick list turns demand into floor work. Create pick list takes the source (project, job, order, task), the required item quantities, and a sourcing strategy — FIFO, FEFO (expiry-first), location preference, or manual — and can auto-reserve what it plans to pick.

Coverage is checked up front: lines the stock can't cover are flagged short before anyone walks.

Execute the pick

Start the list and work it line by line — the guided view leads the walk; scan the source, the item, and confirm quantity per line.

Pick execution — Pick, short, substitute, or skip — every outcome is explicit.

Reality gets recorded, not idealized:

Short — take what's there, record the shortfall and reason.
Substitute — swap to an approved alternate and record it.
Skip — leave the line with a reason.

Never complete a line for material still on the shelf.

Issue, consume, complete

Picked stock leaves via Issue to target (handed to the job or person) or Consume (used immediately). Completing the pick reconciles reservations and writes the movements; the target's history shows exactly what its demand took. Verify like everything else — in the ledger.
