Notes & attachments
Pinned notes on records, and file attachments: images, primary photos, documents, and where they surface.
Notes
The Notes tab holds durable knowledge about a record — quirks, handling instructions, supplier agreements — as distinct notes that can be pinned so the important one stays on top. Notes differ from comments: a comment is a conversation, a note is documentation.
Attachments
On the Attachments tab, use Take photo to take a picture on your phone, or Add images to choose existing pictures. Uploaded images appear as thumbnails in the Images gallery. Tap a thumbnail to open the full image. Uploading and viewing images require a connection.
Attachments carry files on the record: photos, PDFs, certificates, drawings. For items, mark one image primary — it becomes the thumbnail in lists and pickers — and reorder the rest. Datasheets have their own tab on items so technical documents don't drown in photos.
Uploads land in secure storage with size limits; downloads use short-lived links. Locations support images and files, too — a photo of the rack beats a paragraph describing it.
Practical habits
- Photograph what words describe badly: damage at receiving, condition at tool check-in.
- Attach the supplier certificate to the lot or unit it certifies, not to a shared drive.
- One primary photo per item, taken on the shelf, makes every picker faster.
